2/28 DEEP 46 Impact - Live Results

Sunday 28 February 2010

DEEP 46 is underway in Korakuen Hall, and as usual I am following the blows on Sherdog's chat.

There has been a few big upsets already. A very good card, and I thought some of the fights would go the distance. So far though, all early finishes.

As usual, there are some announcements in the ring. Bernard Ackah, Yuya Shirai, Katsunori Kikuno, Ryo Chonan, and Miku Matsumoto enteres.

Bernar Ackah was suppose to be in the LHW tournament, but broke his hand. He now would like to fight on the April card, and I am guessing he would be a reserve fight for the tournament there.

Miku Matsumoto is confirming rumors that she will be retiring, announceing that she would like to have an exhibition fight before that. Very sad, as she is one of the top female fighters out there.

2/11 Cage Force & Valkyrie 04 - Fight Order

Wednesday 10 February 2010

GCM have announced their 2 cards for tomorrow, and to be honest I think the Valkyrie card is the better one...

Hiroko Kitamura is a late replacement, and comes in for an injured "Sachi", the crowd favorite broke her leg during training and will be sidelined for this event.

The main-event will be the Female featherweight title fight between Yuka Tsuji and "V Hajime". Also on the card is one of my favorite fighters, Rin Nakai.

The main-event for the Cage Force (or the male part) is Katsuhiko Nagata, who will be taking on Koji Ando. This is a great chance for Ando to get a good win, but Nagata will be coming in as the favorite here.

Valkyrie:
Main-Event: Female Fetherweight Title fight (3x5min):

From the Japanese Blog World

Some blog entries from Japanese fighters, I will try to do this going forward. Maybe a weekly thing. :)

-Katsuhiko Nagata had to cut down to 70.3kg for his fight in Cage Force tomorrow. After making weight he has gone on a feeding frenzy and by the time he went to bed was up to 76.5. He spent 2 weeks cutting weight.

-Takanori Gomi is "suffering" the effects of having signed with an American organization, being constantly asked if he hasnt moved yet.

-Hidehiko Yoshida has put a confirmation on his blog that 25 April will be his last MMA fight, and he will do his best.

-Katsunori Kikuno will hold a seminar at Alliance gym in Akasaka. It will be held on 2/21, and cost JPY 5000. It will be for 20 people.

A pretty good card so far, announced for the 2nd season of "Border" in Osaka. This will be held in the Hirano Community Plaza.

Asashoryu resigns from Sumo

One of sumo's biggest and most controversial stars resigned yesterday. Asashoryu at the age of 29 Asashoryu have won 25 sumo tournaments and is one of the biggest stars the sport has ever seen. But controversy has always followed the Yokozuna's career, the latest being a drunken assault.

Asashoryu told reporters:

I am grateful for everything. I will retire

Asashoryu has been "chased" by FEG for a while, and has been seen at their events. It will be interesting to see if they move in to sign the sumo star. The last Yokozuna to make that transition was Akebono, but I think Asashoryu would more suited for that transition.
