8/11 K-1 World GP 2009 in Tokyo -Final 16 Qualifying GP- Fight Order

Monday 10 August 2009

Tomorrow FEG is holding their World 16 Qualifying GP in Yoyogi 2nd Gymnasium. There are some very interesting names in the tournament.

The main event will, of course, be the tournament final. But before that Peter Aerts will take on Japans former boxing champion Yosuke Nishijima. Nishijima has tried his hands at MMA and now K-1 after putting away his boxing gloves, I would be surprised if he won this, but it will be an entertaining fight.

There has been a change in the tournament reserve fight, British John Love is replacing Alex Roberts, and Heat veteran Prince Ali is taking on another Heat veteran in Yuki Nimura. It really shows that the Heat organisation is bringing out some great talent, and I have been impressed by both these fighters in the past. It should be a good reserve fight.

Main-Event - Final 16 Qualifying GP:
13. Winner SF1 vs. Winner SF2

12. Super-Fight: Peter Aerts vs. Yosuke Nishijima
11. Super-Fight: Keijiro Maeda vs. Jan Soukup

Final 16 Qualifying GP - Semi-Finals:
10. SF2: Winner of QF3 vs. Winner of QF4
9. SF1: Winner of QF2 vs. Winner of QF1

Final 16 Qualifying GP - Quarter-Finals:
8. Rico Verhoeven vs. Brice Guidon
7. Sergeii Lashchenko vs. Sebastian Ciobau
6. Daniel Ghita vs. John Love
5. Melvin Manhoef vs. Ramazan Ramazanov
4. Reserve: Yuki Nimura vs. Prince Ali

Nightmare of Battle is saying that Nishijima wont be able to kick, since he will be wearing shoes. I have a feeling it wont help him, even if he is a world class boxer. Should be a very entertaining fight!
